About The Bruenderman/Glenn Family
~ Bruenderman Family ~

Gerhard Bruendermann was born on August 13, 1851 in Ochtrup, Regierungsbezirk, Munster, Westphalia, Germany. He arrived in the US on July 18, 1874 on the ship 'Oder', leaving the port at Bremen, Germany. He returned to Germany, and immigrated to the US with his brother Herman on Nov 10, 1877. They eventually settled down in Texas Bend, Mississippi County, Missouri (which is simply recorded as Texas, MO until late in the Civil War).

Gerhard Bruenderman married Maria Johanna (Annie) Lankheit on February 5, 1884 and had four children (Herman, Maria, Gertrude, Bernard). One of the four children is my great grandfather Bernard John Joseph Bruenderman. Gerhard died on August 22, 1902.

Gerhard's brother Herman built the St Henry's convent school in Charleston, Missouri. It was completed on September 12, 1892. Herman's wife Bernadine died in 1898 and Herman died in 1900. The children were still very young at the time of their parents deaths and were all sent to live with various relatives. One of the children (Joseph Anthony Bruenderman) was orphaned at age 7. He lived with a family with the last name of Shaad, but they ended up sending him to St Joseph's Orphanage in Louisville, Kentucky.

I was inspired to put together this website and trace our family history by my Dad (Joseph Raymond Bruenderman). I would listen to his colorful stories about various family members and have trouble remembering what relation people were to me.

This website is a work in progress and is continually updated. Please let me know if you have more information or corrections to any information.

Getting Around
There are several ways to browse the family tree. The Tree View graphically shows the relationship of selected person to their kin. The Family View shows the person you have selected in the center, with his/her photo on the left and notes on the right. Above are the father and mother and below are the children. The Ancestor Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph above and children below. On the right are the parents, grandparents and great-grandparents. The Descendant Chart shows the person you have selected in the left, with the photograph and parents below. On the right are the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Do you know who your second cousins are? Try the Kinship Relationships Tool. Your site can generate various Reports for each name in your family tree. You can select a name from the list on the top-right menu bar.

In addition to the charts and reports you have Photo Albums, the Events list and the Relationships tool. Family photographs are organized in the Photo Index. Each Album's photographs are accompanied by a caption. To enlarge a photograph just click on it. Keep up with the family birthdays and anniversaries in the Events list. Birthdays and Anniversaries of living persons are listed by month. Want to know how you are related to anybody ? Check out the Relationships tool.
